This time I would like to talk about the “Sozo-no-Mori Campsite” in Gunma Prefecture, a hole-in-the-wall campsite that I recommended! It is a very attractive campground with a night view and free sites, and I have visited many times. I would like to introduce some of the recommendations for the Forest of Creation Campground, so please take a look!

Campsites that are far from the interchange tend to be avoided just because of that, but you don’t have to worry about that at all here.

The carts shown in the photo are used to transport luggage.
Reservation Method (Reservations can now be made online)
Official HP Souzou no Mori Campsite Official Website
Reservations can be made through
Online reservations have been available since June 2024.
Please note that if you have used this service before then, please be careful.
Previously, the most common way to apply was to make an appointment in person at the Shinto Village Office, or by correspondence with the office by mail, but this has changed.
Personally, I think it was a hole-in-the-wall campground because not many people used it because it was difficult to understand this reservation method and many people avoided it, but I am happy and sad that it is gradually gaining recognition, lol.
No, it’s a great campground, and I’m glad that more people know about it.
Be sure to bring extra warm clothing. Also, since you are in the mountains, it can rain suddenly, so be sure to take precautions against it.
Be aware that it may rain on and off regardless of whether the weather forecast calls for clear skies.
For beginners, it gets very dark at night, so dark that it is difficult to walk without a lantern light. It is sometimes difficult to see what is on the table.
Always bring one bright lantern for main use and three or four other lanterns for peace of mind.
Do not go camping with only one lantern.
The best camps start with sufficient preparation!
Flow of the camp day
The first thing to do is to check in and check out.
Unlike other campgrounds, there are no definite hours here, and you are free to come and go as you please between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.(Because you pay a two-day use fee, not an overnight stay fee.)
On the second day of your stay, you only need to leave at 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon and you can relax.
On the day of camping, when you arrive at the site, you will first register at the administration building.
The building with the red ceiling in the back is the administration building.
Here you will receive an explanation of the campground for your application, and after some light chatting (lol), you will receive a control number to hang in your tent.(The card you are holding in your right hand in the photo above)
Free firewood is also stacked by the administration building.
The wood is a bit large, so you will need to chop it yourself, so don’t forget to bring an axe.
The toilets are not equipped with bidet toilets, but they are clean.
There is also a cooking area and charcoal dumping area.
If you wish to shop at a supermarket before going to the campground, Fressey Shinto-Arai Store is recommended.
The address is 2222-2 Arai, Shinto-Mura, Kitagunma-gun, 370-3503.
It is located on the way to the campground, so there is no need to make a detour.
The above is an introduction and overview of the Forest of Creation Campground.
Let us introduce some recommendations for the Forest of Creation Campground.
Recommendation 1: Budget-friendly camping is possible.
Prices are rising, gas prices are rising, camping gear prices are rising, and campground prices are rising: 、、、、
The cost of camping is rising every year.
However, here at the Forest of Creation Campground, the fees are exceptionally low.
Below is a list of fees for one day.
Adult | Kids | |
Living in the village | 200yen | 100yen |
From Out side Village | 400yen | 200yen |
Note: The fee varies depending on whether you live in Shinto Village or not.
If you stay overnight, the fee is for two days.
what a cheap price !!!!
The average camping fee is around 7,000 yen, and if you go to a good place, it will be over 10,000 yen,
But this is the price here!
And that’s not all!
What’s more, firewood is free for unlimited use. !!!!
At campgrounds where firewood is purchased, it usually costs about 1,400 yen.
That’s free !!!!
There is no other campground like it!
You can spend your floating budget on food, drinks, or save money.
It’s wonderful to have choices!
Recommendation Point 2: Design a free camping experience with spacious free sites that beginners can use with ease.
The second recommendation is the overwhelming size of the free site.
When 6 of us visited there before, we put up 2 large tents and were able to set them up with plenty of room to spare.
If you try to put up a large tent in a sectioned-off site, your camping space will be limited.
But here, you don’t have to worry about it.
The living space is also quite spacious.
This was my first time camping at the Forest of Creation Campground.
Since it was my first time, I couldn’t set up the tent properly and ended up swinging the poles this way and that and stopping when the tent was spread out.
However, thanks to the large free sites, we were able to set up in a timely manner without causing any inconvenience to others.
If you are a beginner who is not familiar with setting up, I would not recommend using a sectioned site where the available space is limited.
Because of the close proximity to neighbors, you may feel uncomfortable if you are not able to set up properly.
It is hard to enjoy camping when you have to worry about such things, isn’t it?
If you are worried about such things, we recommend that you choose a campground with spacious free sites like the Forest of Creation Campground.
Forest of Creation Campground, why not make this your first campsite?
We recommend it!
Recommendation 3: Beautiful starry sky & night view
This will be the best recommendation. What a surprise! You can see the night view of Maebashi City from the site.
There are surprisingly few campgrounds in the Kanto area that offer a night view, so it is quite rare to find a campground that offers such a beautiful night view.
Also, since the Forest of Creation Campground is located in the mountains at a high altitude, you can see beautiful starry skies if the weather is clear.
Enjoy chatting with friends and family, watching bonfires, being healed, being moved by the night view, and thinking about the stars.
You can forget reality and have a wonderful time,
I think that is the most attractive point of the Forest of Creation campsite.
It is a little far away, but that does not disturb the camp, on the contrary, it creates a nice atmosphere.
Here are some photos taken during the daytime.
The view is so nice even during the daytime that you can just take out your chair and have a toast before setting up your tent.
You will be so healed that setting up the tent will become a hassle.
This is an introduction to the Forest of Creation Campground.
How was it?
We hope that we have conveyed the charm of the Forest of Creation Campground to you and that you would like to visit.
Tourist sites and facilities around the Souzou no Mori Campground
Since the Souzou no Mori campground is located near the Ikaho Onsen hot springs in Gunma, it is possible to go sightseeing before or after visiting the campground.
I once had lunch on the stone steps of Ikaho Onsen before heading to the campground.
At that time, I visited
SARA “S terrace Arraiya
The name is “SARA “S terrace Arraiya.
Here, you can enjoy a bowl of rice topped with a steak of Jyoshu beef.
The meat is tender and delicious. Please try it!
Another good place to go is the Maebashi Minami Mall, just off the Maebashi Minami Interchange.
There are a variety of stores here.
There are so many stores that you can spend a whole day here alone, such as the outdoor store Wild One, Costco, etc.
Sometimes you wish you had that one piece of gear while camping, don’t you?
In that case, you can go shopping at Maebashi Minami Mall on your way home!
If you get sweaty or dirty while camping, go to Shinto-onsen Fureaikan, located just a short drive from the campground.
There is an open-air bath and a large place to rest.
Please visit.
