Kasumigaura Dock Park & MTB Park Attractions
The main reason I decided to introduce this campground is because although it is a campground, it also has mountain bike trails and a dock run that many people can enjoy.
When you hear the term “mountain bike,” you may have an image of a bulky bicycle with fat tires riding around town. That image of a bicycle is correct. However, that image of a bicycle is not what you will be riding on the streets. You will be riding a mountain bike on the animal trails that have been pioneered in the forest.
I have never ridden a mountain bike myself, but when I see people dashing around on them, they look like they are having so much fun that I think it might be a good idea to give it a try. If you are not interested in biking or are interested in biking but have not taken it up as a hobby, please check it out. It will definitely sway your mind .
The strength of this campground is not only its mountain bike trails.
One of the largest in Kanto! It has a dock run that may possibly be one of the largest in the country. As one would expect from Ibaraki Prefecture, there is so much extra land to build such a spacious dock run…let’s just say it’s the kindness of the people of the prefecture that makes them so service-oriented. All joking aside, the dockland here is truly vast. I think it is more than the size of a soccer court. I have a corgi myself, and I have let him play in the dog run, but it is so huge that it is hard to call him back when he runs to the end of the run. It turns into a contest of endurance, with one of us having a heart attack and coming back.
Even if you have a dog and are not interested in camping at all, you will definitely be impressed with the dock run here, so please think you have been deceived and give it a try! The ground is grassy and vast, so you will definitely feel refreshed and excited! But be careful not to get heat stroke as the temperatures are rising at this time of the year!
As part of my dog’s heat stroke prevention measures, there is actually a doggy pool. The routine for my dog and I is as follows: First, when we arrive, we let him play as much as he can on the dock run to tire him out. When they are exhausted, we set up the tent and make a fire. After that, if there is time, I let my dog dive into the pool. If it looks like there is not much time, I leave the pool for tomorrow and keep the human’s throat moist with alcohol.
This will be our family’s routine, and I think most people follow the same process.
Introduction to campground sites and facilities
Let me now introduce you to the campground sites and facilities.
There is more to enjoy at this campground than camping, mountain biking, and docklands. There is trail running, where you can feel the exhilaration of dashing through nature on your own feet, bike joring (simply put, it’s like a bicycle version of dog sledding), and canicross, where you and your dog ride through nature on your own feet instead of on a bicycle. You can also enjoy
It is a sport that is not often heard of, but it is becoming reasonably well known among dog lovers who love sports. If you are interested in this sport, please do your own research!
Since this article is about the campground, here are some details about the camp site and other information.
The grand opening date is March 1, 2021, making it a relatively new campground.
If you use Joban Expressway, it takes about 15 minutes by car from Tsuchiura Kita Interchange and about 10 minutes by car from Chiyoda Ishioka Interchange.
Please note that the hours of operation vary depending on the time of year: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from March to October, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from November to February.
Camp sites are divided into dock sites and outdoor sites, with 11 dock sites and 3 outdoor sites.
There are 6 shower rooms, 100 yen per 5 minutes, available 24 hours a day, which is great for campers during the summer season. The campground is new, so naturally the facilities are clean.
The restrooms are located near the reception area and are separate for men and women. It was one of the cleanest restrooms I have ever been to. After all, cleanliness of the restrooms is important to increase the rate of repeat visits. Especially for women, I think the image of a campground is affected by how good or bad the restrooms are. I recommend this if you are with someone who places emphasis on the restrooms.
The mountain bike trails are safe to walk on when there are no bicycles around. The trails are very nice for those who like trekking and nature walks. Because of the abundance of nature, there is a possibility that you may say hello to snakes and bees, so please say hello to them if you happen to encounter them!
The surrounding area is rich in nature, but a short drive will take you to Super Center Trial, Kasumi, and the popular “business supermarket. If you don’t want to carry heavy luggage until the last minute, this is the perfect place for you! You can leave your heavy luggage until just before you arrive at the campsite. And if you change your mind about what you want to eat on the way to the campsite, no problem at all.
There are showers at the campsite, but some campers prefer to take a hot spring bath to relieve their fatigue. 30 minutes drive away, you can stop by a day-trip hot spring near Mt. If you want to take a good bath, please take a bath in the famous hot spring! If you are confident in your physical strength, you may want to go straight to the summit of Mt. (Tsukuba (there is a ropeway).
About Ibaraki Prefecture’s famous gourmet specialties!
Also, since you have come all the way to Ibaraki Prefecture, you would like to try some specialty food!
What do you imagine Ibaraki Prefecture’s gourmet food to be?
Wait and see. Surprisingly, there are hidden gourmet foods in Ibaraki Prefecture. Since we are here, let us introduce some Ibaraki gourmet foods.
One of the most popular gourmet foods in winter in Ibaraki Prefecture is anglerfish cuisine. Ankou dishes (ankou nabe, dobu nabe, monkfish liver, etc.) can be enjoyed throughout the prefecture mainly from November to March.
In addition, the area near Nakaminato, located on the Pacific Ocean side, and other areas along the coast can enjoy fresh seafood, shirasu (baby sardines), Kashima-nada hamaguri (clams), and the new brand Hitachinokuni Ise Ebi and Mehikari, which were just born last June.
A must for ramen lovers is the Stamina Ramen. It is difficult to say what flavor it is, but it is a ramen with thick, sticky noodles topped with as much of a thick, hot, sweet and spicy soy sauce-based sauce with vegetables such as liver and pumpkin. It is hard to describe in words, so if you are interested, please try it for yourself!
There are also many other gourmet foods such as sweet potatoes and natto (fermented soybeans), so please enjoy gourmet foods on your way home from the campground.
So far I have talked about the campground, but the impression of the Kasumiura Dock Park & MTB Park from the staff working at the campground is clear: “With dogs, nature is the best campground for campers! One word.
If you are just starting out, we recommend shopping facilities nearby, but this campground is great for campers who are new to camping to seasoned campers, dog and bicycle lovers.
We hope you will visit us this summer and enjoy camping, hot springs, and gourmet food.
