Reception and reservations at ▶︎ Center House
Some require advance reservations, while others do not. This time we actually experienced “cart driving” and “sheep and napping hammocks,” but you can also experience rafting, canoeing, canyoning, and other fairly strenuous activities!
First, go to the GAO Outdoor Center and make a reservation for the activity you want to do. The types of activities and price lists are posted in front of the center, so be sure to check them out! Basically, reservations are required for those activities that require advance preparation and a fixed maximum number of participants. Please note that rafting, canyoning, and canoeing, all of which are listed above, require reservations!
However, most of the visitors to Hoshino Resort Tomamu stay overnight, so it is possible to come early in the morning and make reservations for the next day’s activities at the reception center!
For more information about activities, please check the official website!

Cows, horses, sheep, and other animals graze on the farm, and although they are fenced in, you are free to interact with them. Tomamu is the best place where you can interact with animals living freely in the great nature! If you tear grass and bring it to the animals, they will eat it, so if you are not afraid of them, please give it to them.
In the sheep and napping hammock zone, you can freely interact with the sheep and spend a relaxing time in a hammock.
Tomamu is also pet-friendly with a dog run. The grounds are so vast that it is a little too big to take a walk, so it is great information for dog lovers to be able to let their dogs play freely in the dog run!
Activities to enjoy Tomamu as only Hokkaido can offerHorseback riding, goat postman, evening farm and morning farm are activities that make the most of Hoshino Resort Tomamu’s charm!
At the Horse Riding Experience, you can ride around the vast grassland on horseback, and at the Goat Postman, you can actually send letters using plant leaves. I recommend the Evening Farm and Morning Farm! You can take a tour of the Tomamu grounds with a guide who will explain about the cows, horses and sheep!
Especially for those who are staying at the resort, the morning tour starting from the morning farm is a unique experience for Hokkaido-goers!
What makes Hoshino Resort Tomamu different from other resorts is that you can interact with animals in its vast grounds! Leisurely stroll around Tomamu in a moo moo cart
Well, actually, I actually experienced moo karting when I visited Tomamu this time!
The reception is at the GAO Activity Center I mentioned earlier. This time I went on the day without a reservation, but was able to ride easily! It seems that you have to wait for a while when all the carts are out because the number of carts is limited.
The moped carts are actually used in the same way as golf carts, so if you have ridden in one before, you will find it easy to operate them. The staff will teach you how to operate the cart, but they will not teach you how to back up. However, if you know how to change gears, you can actually go backwards, so don’t forget that!
You can take a walk around Tomamu’s vast grounds, but the best way to get around is by moo moo cart! If you ride with your family, it is a good deal!
You can see Tomamu’s ranch in an hour with a cart, but it will probably take several hours if you walk around.
The hammocks, horses, cows, sheep, and other animals grazing on the grounds make the hour fly by. Don’t worry, the staff will explain the recommended circuitous route to you.
In fact, moo moo carts are also available as night carts, so it would be interesting to have a night exploration tour with your family!
